Flying Fibers is brought to you by the mother-daughter team of Jeri Robinson-Lawrence and Irina Lawrence Mathias. They honor and celebrate diversity and inclusion while welcoming everyone to their little corner of the world. Both women are passionate about providing beautiful fiber products to crafters of any skill, as well as promoting the preservation of rare breed sheep. In addition to owning the shop, Jeri and Irina have a flock of North American Wensleydale, endangered Leicester Longwool, and rare breed Shetland sheep just outside the shop window on their farm in York County, PA. Flock yarns are always available along with yarns they manufacture and hand-dye including Yorkshire Medley, a DK and Fingering weight yarn that is a blend of Wensleydale and Blue Faced Leicester, and Seadale, a worsted weight yarn composed of Wensleydale and Manx Loaghtan. Also, in the shop are products from Harrisville Designs, Imperial Yarns, Kelbourne Woolens, West Yorkshire Spinners, and more! They also provide the hand spinner and felter with the largest selection of roving in Central Pennsylvania. These two women are extremely passionate about the fiber arts and are regularly willing to share their knowledge and expertise with whoever desires.

Stottlemyer Shetlands is located on 12.5 acres in Fallowfield Township on land that is been in my (Carson) family since the Revolutionary War. The original ancestor also raised sheep here! All of our sheep are raised on grass and hay with supplemental minerals so that their wool will be the best quality a Shetland fleece can be. Most of our yarn is made from fine fleeces, although we do have a few that are more of a medium grade. The most common comment heard when people pick up my yarn is, " It's so squishy". If you are looking for yarn or fleeces that are next to skin soft, then we have it for you!

The farm currently raises a heritage breed of sheep, Leicester Longwools, and Angora goats that graze on the area's rolling hills. Their fleeces are processed into lustrous, beautiful yarns. As first-time shepherds, this endeavor has been a great way to develop new skills and knowledge of livestock and farming. Our sense of humor has remained intact.
The farm had been without sheep for a few years, so we decided to research which breed of sheep would best fit the terrain, local climate, and our needs. The chosen Leicester Longwool Sheep has proven a clear winner. These animals do exceptionally well in our area. The Angora goats arrived by accident when a friend offered us two goats to determine their suitability for the farm and us. The goats have stayed on, multiplied, and proven a great source of Angora wool to blend with the sheep's wool into wonderfully lustrous yarn.
We store all of the yarns at the farm.

Our small, family-run farm store is located next to Opossum Lake, in the picturesque Cumberland valley with a view of the mountains in the distance. It contains one of the widest varieties of wool and spinning fibers on the east coast, as well as honey products from our apiary, Walnut Farm Bees. In the spring you will see our Bluefaced Leicester sheep grazing along the creek and our beehives nestled along the pasture in the distance. You will find every color of wool and plant spinning and felting fibers, luxury fibers, as well as a curated selection of Malabrigo yarn and other yarns. I make pattern reminder notions on demand, so if you see any pattern reminder notions in my Etsy shop, I can make them and have them ready for you when you visit. If you want to learn to spin on a drop spindle when you visit, let me know in advance, and I can teach you!
